Ρωσία: Νέα μυστηριώδης αυτοκτονία στο περιβάλλον του Πούτιν

Αυτοκτόνησε πρώην επιτελικό στέλεχος του υπ. Εσωτερικών που είχε απολύσει ο Ρώσος πρόεδρος

Πρώην ανώτερο στέλεχος του υπουργείου Εσωτερικών της Ρωσίας, ο υποστράτηγος Βλαντιμίρ Μακάροφ, βρέθηκε νεκρός σε προάστιο κοντά στη Μόσχα και φέρεται να αυτοκτόνησε, εβδομάδες αφότου απαλλάχθηκε από τη θέση του από τον πρόεδρο Βλαντιμίρ Πούτιν, μετέδωσε το ρωσικό κρατικό πρακτορείο ειδήσεων TASS.

Ο Μακάροφ, ο οποίος στο παρελθόν υπηρέτησε ως αναπληρωτής επικεφαλής της Κεντρικής Διεύθυνσης για την Καταπολέμηση του Εξτρεμισμού και ήταν γνωστός για την καταστολή της διαφωνίας, βρέθηκε νεκρός με αυτοτραυματισμό από πυροβόλο όπλο στο κεφάλι, ανέφερε το ρωσόφωνο ειδησεογραφικό πρακτορείο SOTA.

Μετά την αναφερθείσα ξαφνική απόλυσή του τον περασμένο μήνα, ο Μακάροφ είχε πέσει σε «βαθιά κατάθλιψη» και δεν ήξερε πώς να συνεχίσει την καριέρα του μετά από μια ζωή στρατιωτική θητεία, είπαν συγγενείς στο κανάλι Telegram

Σειρά αυτοκτονιών

Ο Μακάροφ είναι ο τελευταίος σε μια σειρά μυστηριωδών αυτοκτονιών που συνδέονται με τον Πούτιν και το καθεστώς του. Ο Ρώσος πολιτικός και επιχειρηματίας, Πάβελ Αντόφ, βρέθηκε νεκρός έξω από ξενοδοχείο στην ανατολική Ινδία, τον Δεκέμβριο, όταν έπεσε από παράθυρο. Προηγουμένως είχε επικρίνει τις ρωσικές επιθέσεις στο Κίεβο ως «τρομοκρατία».

Ο Ιβάν Πετσόριν, 39 ετών, στέλεχος της ενεργειακής αγοράς της Ρωσίας, πέθανε τον Σεπτέμβριο πέφτοντας στη θάλασσα ενώ έπλεε στα ανοιχτά του νησιού Russky, στη Θάλασσα της Ιαπωνίας, ανέφεραν ρωσικά μέσα ενημέρωσης.

Την 1η Σεπτεμβρίου, ο Ραβίλ Μαγκάνοφ, 67 ετών, αντιπρόεδρος της ρωσικής εταιρείας πετρελαίου Lukoil, σκοτώθηκε πέφτοντας από παράθυρο νοσοκομείου της Μόσχας.

Υπόθεση Ράποπορτ

Ο Λετονοαμερικανός επιχειρηματίας και γνωστός για τις επικρίσεις του κατά του Πούτιν, Νταν Κ. Ράποπορτ, φέρεται να πήδηξε από παράθυρο του διαμερίσματός του στην Ουάσιγκτον, τον Αύγουστο. Τη στιγμή της πτώσης του είχε στην κατοχή του το τηλέφωνό του, τα κλειδιά του αυτοκινήτου, σχεδόν 3.000 δολάρια σε μετρητά και ένα δίπλωμα οδήγησης από τη Φλόριντα.

Η αστυνομία στην αμερικανική πρωτεύουσα δεν υποψιάζεται επί του παρόντος κάτι ύποπτο, αν και συνεχίζει να ερευνά τον θάνατο του Ράπαπορτ. Η χήρα του Ράποπορτ, Αλένα Ράποπορτ, αμφισβήτησε τις αναφορές ότι ο θάνατος του συζύγου της προκλήθηκε από τον ίδιο.

Ρώσος συνταγματάρχης νεκρός με πέντε σφαίρες - Είναι αυτοκτονία υποστηρίζει η Μόσχα

Ο 44χρονος Ρώσος συνταγματάρχης Βαντίμ Μπόικο βρέθηκε νεκρός στο γραφείο του με 5 σφαίρες στο στήθος, με τις ρωσικές αρχές να κάνουν λόγο για αυτοκτονία. Ένας ισχυρισμός που προκαλεί πολλά ερωτήματα.

Ειδικότερα, ο 44χρονος συνταγματάρχης Βαντίμ Μπόικο, που είχε ενεργό ρόλο στην οργάνωσης της μεγάλης επιστράτευσης του Βλαντιμίρ Πούτιν για να ενισχυθούν οι ρωσικές δυνάμεις στην Ουκρανία, βρέθηκε νεκρός στο γραφείο του. Ο 44χρονος Ρώσος στρατιωτικός εφερε τραύματα στο στήθος από 5 σφαίρες.

Συγκεκριμένα, όπως αναφέρει η βρετανική ταμπλόιντ εφημερίδα "The Sun", o Μπόικο ήταν υψηλόβαθμο στέλεχος της διαβόητης Ανώτερης Ναυτικής Σχολής Μακάροφ στο Βλαδιβοστόκ.

Σύμφωνα με τις αναφορές, πήγε στην δουλειά, μπήκε στο γραφείο του και μετά ακούστηκαν 5 πυροβολισμοί. Μπήκαν στο γραφείο του και τον αντίκρισαν νεκρό.

Η εκδοχή των αρχών περί αυτοκτονίας αμφισβητήθηκε γρήγορα, μιας και ο συνταγματάρχης θα έπρεπε να καταφέρει να αυτοπυροβοληθεί στο στήθος πέντε φορές. Εξάλλου, δεν βρέθηκε σημείωμα αυτοκτονίας.

Ρωσία: Νέος θάνατος αξιωματούχου σε μυστηριώδη πτώση από τον 16ο όροφο

Νεκρή, κάτω από περίεργες συνθήκες βρέθηκε στην Αγία Πετρούπολη στη Ρωσία η στρατιωτική αξιωματούχος, Μαρίνα Γιάνκινα.

Όπως γράφει ο ιστότοπος Fontanka της Αγίας Πετρούπολης και η εφημερίδα Kommersant, το πτώμα της ηλικίας 58 ετών Γιάνκινα, επικεφαλής της Διεύθυνσης Οικονομικών του υπουργείου Άμυνας αρμόδια για την Δυτική Στρατιωτική Περιφέρεια, βρέθηκε το πρωί της 15ης Φεβρουαρίου, κάτω από το μπαλκόνι του σπιτιού στο οποίο διέμενε.

Στο μπαλκόνι στον 16ο όροφο η αστυνομία βρήκε έγγραφά της και προσωπικά αντικείμενα. Όπως γράφουν τα μέσα ενημέρωσης, η ανάκριση εξετάζει ως βασική εκδοχή του θανάτου της την αυτοκτονία.

Επισήμως η Ανακριτική Επιτροπή προς το παρόν δεν έχει σχολιάσει το περιστατικό.

Πριν αναλάβει καθήκοντα στο υπουργείο Άμυνας, η Μαρίνα Γιάνκινα εργάζονταν στην Ομοσπονδιακή υπηρεσία εφορίας και επίσης ήταν αντιπρόεδρος της επιτροπής περιουσιακών σχέσεων της Αγίας Πετρούπολης.

Σύμφωνα με πληροφορίες του καναλιού Mash στο Telegram, το οποίο επικαλείται ο ιστότοπος Meduza, πριν τον θάνατό της η Γιάνκινα είχε πάρει τηλέφωνο τον πρώην σύζυγό της και του ζήτησε να καλέσει την αστυνομία. Όπως ισχυρίζεται το Mash, η Γιάνκινα «αντιμετώπιζε προβλήματα υγείας».

Στις 13 Φεβρουαρίου σε εξοχικό σπίτι, στο χωριό Γκολίκοβο έξω από τη Μόσχα, βρέθηκε το πτώμα του πρώην αναπληρωτή επικεφαλής της κύριας διεύθυνσης του υπουργείου Εσωτερικών για την καταπολέμηση της τρομοκρατίας (γνωστή ως ‘Κέντρο Ε’) του στρατηγού Βλαντίμιρ Μακάροφ. Δίπλα στο πτώμα του υπήρχε μια καραμπίνα Berkut-2M. Ο Μακάροφ πιθανολογείται ότι αυτοκτόνησε.

LEONID SHULMAN WAS UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR FRAUD

At the time that Leonid Shulman died, in January, 2022, he was the head of Gazprom's Invest transport service — a Gazprom affiliate — and was under investigation for fraud, according to Fortune. In the aftermath of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Vladimir Putin demanded that European clients make payments in Russian Roubles to Gazprombank, an affiliated financial institution to the gas provider, Gazprom. This would circumvent sanctions from the West brought about as a result of the conflict. As of May of 2022, though, partial sanctions were also announced against executives at Gazprombank, according to Reuters.

Up to that point, Gazprom was spared in terms of Western sanctioning so the flow of natural gas from Russia to Europe would not be interrupted. These partial-sanctions were done to both punish Russia for the invasion and to make a statement that Gazprom bank was no longer a financial safe haven. Senior Biden administration official clarified (via Reuters) "This is not a full block. We're not freezing the assets of Gazprombank or prohibiting any transactions with Gazprombank. What we're signaling is that Gazprombank is not a safe haven, and so we're sanctioning some of their top business executives ... to create a chilling effect."

LEONID SHULMAN WAS FOUND WITH STAB WOUNDS

Fraud investigation and sanctions aside, Leonid Shulman was found dead in the run-up to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict on his own bathroom floor. He had stab wounds on his wrists. No one else died. Shulman lived in a high-end real estate development near St. Petersburg, according to Fortune. An alleged suicide note was also found. In it, Shulman complained of ongoing chronic pain issues resulting from a broken leg, per the Polish non profit think tank, Warsaw Institute.

Shulman was on leave from work from Gazprom when he died, according to the Russian media group RBC. An investigation into his death is ongoing, according to Newsweek. The alleged fraud that Shulman was under investigation for involved the upgrade of Gazprom's vehicle fleet, which was under his purview, as the Warsaw Institute also explains. The number of Russian oligarchs and gas executives found dead from suicide or a result of murder-suicide surrounding the Russian invasions of Ukraine is described as suspicious by the Warsaw Institute. On the death of Shulman, Gazprom released this statement (via Newsweek) "Our colleague, the head of the transport service, Leonid Aleksandrovich Shulman, has passed away. The circumstances are being investigated."

Russian Energy Exec reported dead

His death is linked to him falling from a boat, reports have claimed

Reports have surfaced that a Russian Energy Executive has died after falling from a boat.

Ivan Pechorin, Managing Director of the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation, fell from his sailing boat 5,800 miles off the coast of Moscow, the New York Post reported.

Sailing in the Sea of Japan, the 39-year-old’s body was allegedly recovered on Monday.

Tasked with modernising Russian aviation, Pechorin worked under Vladimir Putin, Russian sources state, with his last known public appearance at a forum hosted by the Russian President in Vladivostok.

The Far East and Arctic Development Corporation stated: “On September 12, 2022, it became known about the tragic death of our colleague, Ivan Pechorin.

“The death of Ivan is an irreparable loss for friends and colleagues, a great loss for the corporation. We offer our sincere condolences to family and friends.”

Pechorin’s death has been one of many circumstances in the past year, where key energy players have been reported dead due to reasons of either suicide or an accident.

These include former Head of Lukoil, one of Russia’s largest oil companies, Ravil Maganov – who earlier this month reportedly fell to his death at a hospital in Moscow – and Pechorin’s predecessor, Igor Nosov, who was alleged to have died from a stroke in February.

Investigator anonymously shared details of death of Gazprom’s top-level manager

The body of the 61-year-old top-level manager of Gazprom, Alexander Tyulyakov, was found on the morning of February 25, 2022 in the Leningrad region, but the local police were ousted from the scene by workers of the Gazprom security service.

Details: Tyulyakov, Deputy General Director of Gazprom's Unified Settlement Centre (the company's treasury) for Corporate Security, was found hanged in a garage attached to the house, with a piece of paper lying nearby.

Nova writes that his death looks like suicide.

The contents of Tyulyakov's posthumous note are not being disclosed. At the same time, some media outlets have reported that on the eve of Tyulyakov's death he was severely beaten. Under what circumstances Gazprom's top manager could have been beaten remains a mystery.

Quote ftom the Leningrad Region Investigative Committee: "We arrived at the scene almost simultaneously with the police, who were called by those who had found the body. Everything about the village of Leninskoye is reported to us immediately. I personally saw a hanged man and the piece of paper on the floor of the garage".

Forensics were already working when a group of heavies arrived on three SUVs. They said they were Gazprom's security service, surrounded the territory, and put us and most of the police outside the fence of the house."

Background: This was the second death in Leninskoye since the beginning of the year. Leonid Shulman, 60, head of Gazprom Invest transport service, was found dead on January 30.

The Investigative Committee of the Leningrad Region did not comment to Nova on the two deaths. Journalists were unable to contact Gazprom's representatives investigating the cases.

Ukraine-born oligarch Mikhail Watford found dead at home in Surrey

A Ukraine-born oligarch has been found dead at his home in unexplained circumstances, Surrey police have said.

Officers are treating the death of 66-year-old Mikhail Watford, who made his fortune in oil and gas after the demise of the Soviet Union, as unexplained. But they said it was not thought to be suspicious.

Another Russian businessman, Vasily Melnikov, was found dead alongside his family in Nizhny Novgorod in late March, according to the Russian newspaper Kommersant.

Melnikov owned MedStom, a medical supplies company. According to Russia’s Investigative Committee, a 43-year-old man, his wife, 41, and two children aged four and 10 were found stabbed to death on March 23.

The committee did not name Melnikov, but the ages of the dead and the location of the incident match the Kommersant report.

The regional branch of the investigative committee has not updated the status of its investigation and did not return CNN’s request for comment. At the time of the incident, in March, it said there “were no signs of unauthorized entry into the apartment,” and “knives were found and seized.”
