Σύμφωνα με το ειδησεογραφικό πρακτορείο NepalPress του Νεπάλ, εκατοντάδες άνδρες από το Νεπάλ έχουν ενταχθεί στις ρωσικές δυνάμεις ως συμβασιούχοι στρατιώτες, με πολλούς να είναι απόστρατοι του στρατού του Νεπάλ.

Στο βίντεο που κυκλοφορεί στο διαδίκτυο, στρατευμένοι από το Νεπάλ φαίνονται να εκπαιδεύονται στις στρατιωτικές εγκαταστάσεις της Ρωσίας. Αν και τα βίντεο δεν παρείχαν καμία πληροφορία σχετικά με τον τρόπο συμμετοχής, το NepalPress κατάφερε να συνομιλήσει με δύο Νεπαλέζους άνδρες που εκπαιδεύονται αυτή τη στιγμή. Και οι δύο αρνήθηκαν να δημοσιευτούν τα στοιχεια τους, αλλά μοιράστηκαν τις ιστορίες τους:

Οι υπηρεσίες πληροφοριών των ΗΠΑ είχαν μάθει στα μέσα Ιουνίου για ένοπλη δράση που σχεδίαζε ο αρχηγός της μισθοφορικής ομάδας Wagner Yevgeny Prigozhin, ανέφεραν οι αμερικανικές εφημερίδες New York Times και Washington Post.

Υπήρχαν «αρκετές ενδείξεις για να μπορέσουμε να πούμε στην ηγεσία [των ΗΠΑ] ότι κάτι συμβαίνει», ανέφερε η Post, επικαλούμενη έναν ανώνυμο αξιωματούχο των ΗΠΑ. «Οπότε νομίζω ότι ήταν έτοιμοι για αυτό».

Αν και δεν είναι σαφές πότε ακριβώς έμαθαν οι Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες για πρώτη φορά για το σχέδιο, αξιωματούχοι πληροφοριών πραγματοποίησαν ενημερώσεις την Τετάρτη με αξιωματούχους της διοίκησης και της άμυνας, σύμφωνα με τους Times της Νέας Υόρκης.

Την Πέμπτη, καθώς ήρθε πρόσθετη επιβεβαίωση της πλοκής, αξιωματούχοι των υπηρεσιών πληροφοριών ενημέρωσαν μια στενή ομάδα ηγετών του Κογκρέσου, σύμφωνα με αξιωματούχους που γνωρίζουν τις ενημερώσεις που μίλησαν υπό τον όρο της ανωνυμίας επειδή δεν είχαν εξουσιοδότηση να μιλήσουν δημόσια. Το βράδυ της Παρασκευής, ο Πριγκόζιν είχε κλιμακώσει δραματικά τη διαμάχη του, ξεκινώντας μια πορεία στη Μόσχα που η ρωσική κυβέρνηση περιέγραψε ως απόπειρα πραξικοπήματος. Το Σάββατο, κάλεσε τους μαχητές του και συμφώνησε να διαφύγει στη Λευκορωσία.

Το CNN ανέφερε νωρίτερα ότι οι Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες είχαν ενημερώσει τους ηγέτες του Κογκρέσου σχετικά με τις ανησυχίες τους ότι ο Πριγκόζιν ετοιμαζόταν να αμφισβητήσει τη στρατιωτική ηγεσία της Ρωσίας.

Τελικά ο Πριγκόζιν και τα στρατεύματά του δεν θα αντιμετωπίσουν ποινικές κατηγορίες για την απόπειρα πραξικοπήματος του στη Ρωσία, ανέφερε το Κρεμλίνο.

Θα μεταφερθεί στη Λευκορωσία, στενό σύμμαχο της Ρωσίας, αφού ο μισθοφορικός στρατός του κατέλαβε βάσεις στρατού σε δύο ρωσικές πόλεις, αλλά ακύρωσε την προέλασή τους στη Μόσχα την 11η ώρα για να «αποφύγει την αιματοχυσία».

Η κίνηση σηματοδότησε μια ταπεινωτική άνοδο για τον Βλαντιμίρ Πούτιν, αφού νωρίτερα υποσχέθηκε να εκδικηθεί εκείνους πίσω από την ανταρσία. Οι δυνάμεις του Βάγκνερ απείχαν περίπου τέσσερις ώρες από τη Μόσχα όταν ήρθαν τα νέα για τη δραματική ανατροπή.


Νωρίτερα το Σάββατο, η θέση του κ. Πούτιν τέθηκε υπό αμφισβήτηση όταν ένα αεροσκάφος που ανήκε στην προεδρία εντοπίστηκε να πετά από τη Μόσχα στην Αγία Πετρούπολη. Ο εκπρόσωπος Ντμίτρι Πεσκόφ αρνήθηκε ότι ο Πούτιν είχε διαφύγει.

In a late night televised address to on Monday evening, Putin said: “Any blackmail or way to bring confusion to Russia is doomed to failure… I made steps to avoid large bloodshed.”

He added: “The organisers of the rebellion, having betrayed their country, their people, betrayed those who were drawn into the crime, pushed them, pushed them to death, under fire, to shoot at their own”.

The Russian president appeared to suggest that the Wagner group would still be shut down, saying that Wagner fighters had the choice to sign a contract with the ministry of defence or relocate to Belarus if they wanted as part of a settlement negotiated with the Belarusian leader, Alexander Lukashenko.

“The majority of Wagner commanders and fighters are patriots. They were used covertly against their brothers-in-arms,” he said.

Putin’s unscheduled appearance came just hours after Prigozhin issued a defiant 11-minute statement in which he defended the Wagner uprising and denied that he had sought to topple the Russian president.

Wagner leader Prigozhin breaks his silence, issuing first audio statement since mutiny

Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of Russian mercenary Wagner Group has broken his silence, releasing an 11-minute audio message, where he claims that he initiated Saturday's ''march of justice" to Moscow as a protest and "not to overthrow the country's government."

Wagner head Yevgeny Prigozhin on Monday released the first audio statement since an aborted armed rebellion he staged on Saturday, defending the move as a reaction to an attack on his force that killed some of his 30 fighters.

“We started our march because of an injustice,” Prigozhin said in an 11-minute audio. "Civilians came out to meet us with Russian flags and Wagner emblems, they were happy when we arrived and walked past them."

“On the way, we did not kill a single soldier on the ground. In a day, we were only 200 kilometres away from Moscow.

"We entered and completely took control of the city of Rostov. The civilians were glad to see us. We showed a master class on how February 24, 2022, should have looked like. We did not have the goal of overthrowing the existing regime and the legally elected government, which was said many times. We turned around to not shed Russian soldiers' blood.”

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, who acted as mediator between the Kremlin and Wagner on Saturday, had proposed solutions to allow the paramilitary group to continue operating, he claimed.


"Mr Lukashenko reached out and offered to find solutions to enable the Wagner group to continue its work in a legal manner", said Prigozhin, according to whom the real aim of the armed rebellion was to save Wagner, which in his view was threatened with being dismantled by the authorities.

He didn’t offer any details as to where he was or what his future plans are.

Να θυμηθούμε, ότι το βράδι της στάσης Προγκόζιν, εμφανίστηκε στην τιβί ο Σουροβίκιν να κάνει δηλώσεις, μαζί και ένας άλλος υψηλόβαθμος λίγο αργότερα, όπου καλούσαν τους Βαγκνερίτες να μην πραγματοποιήσουν τις απειλές τους. Φαινόταν και οι δύο αγχωμένοι να θδρώνουν, ενώ τόσο το τραπέζι μπροστά τους, όσο και το φόντο πίσωμ έμοιαζαν σαν
από κρατητήριο. Τότε αρκετοί το είχαν σχολιάσει και υποθέσει ότι είχαν συλληφθεί και τους έβαλαν με το ζόρι να καταδικάσουν δημόσια την στάση.

According to one of the versions in the Russian media, Sergei Surovikin, Commander-in-Chief of the Aerospace Forces of the Russian Federation and Deputy Commander of the Russian Forces in Ukraine, was not arrested; he was interrogated and released.

Details: Sources of the Vazhnye Istorii media outlet do not confirm the arrest of General Surovikin in connection with his involvement in the rebellion of Wagner Group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin. Two sources close to the General Staff and the FSB (Federal Security Service of Russia) said that Surovikin was not arrested and he is not in Lefortovo Prison; he was interrogated but then released.

Bloomberg also wrote that Surovikin was questioned about Prigozhin's rebellion. According to the source of this media outlet, the general "is being kept in one place but isn’t in prison, and investigators are treating him cautiously to avoid antagonizing others within the military who admire Surovikin’s record of achievements with the army."

Z-channels wrote that on 29 June, Surovikin allegedly attended a meeting in the city of Rostov-on-Don, but journalist Dmitry Kolezev denies this. According to the journalist, Sergei Shoigu accused Surovikin of treason, but they are afraid to arrest the general because the officers are for him. Shoigu will try to "blacken" Surrovikin as much as possible.

Background:

Earlier, the Russian media outlets wrote that on 25 June, Surovikin was detained and sent to the Lefortovo pre-trial detention centre, controlled by the FSB. Financial Times also wrote about the detention of the general.

The American media outlets The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times, quoting information from intelligence services, wrote that Prigozhin informed Surovikin about the preparation of the rebellion and that some Russian generals could sympathise with the rebels. NYT sources believed Prigozhin survived the rebellion because of his friendship with Surovikin.

Surovikin's daughter said that nothing happened, and Surovikin's wife refused to comment.

Vladimir Putin's press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, advised asking the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation about Surovikin's fate.
